Farmer's Note
After a decade of learning under tea master Chen Yong Qiang - the maker of Red Jade - I humbly took over the care of his garden upon his retirement. Here, we continue to cultivate White Leaf Dan Cong, the cultivar at the heart of Red Jade, grown in a mountain environment shaped by clean air, steady sunlight, and living soil. Our approach centers on thoughtful cultivation - organic practices, no pesticides, and a long-term commitment to the health of both land and people.
First Blush began as a quiet experiment alongside this work. Through repeated electric roasts - adjusting temperature, timing, and sequence - I sought to better understand the character of this cultivar. What emerged was unexpected: a tea with a luminous, rose-hued liquor and a layered warmth that feels both tender and everlasting. This tea reflects curiosity, patience, and the subtle possibilities held within a single garden.
