Five Year Anniversary Party

from $0.00

Five Years. Four Seasons. One Community.

Join us as we celebrate five years of Volition Tea with an evening of tea, mahjong, drinks, desserts, and community at Haibayo in Chicago's Argyle neighborhood.

The evening will feature tea sensory tables exploring the four teas in our A Year in White collection, a community bingo game, and Fuzhou-style mahjong facilitated by 144 Tiles, with both beginner lessons and open play available.

Enjoy wine from My Dear Friends, beer from Marz Community Brewing, and non-alcoholic cold brew from Volition Tea, alongside intricate and delicious desserts by NĀRIAE.

We’ll also have a donation table benefiting Haibayo Cares, with a chance to win some pretty amazing prizes - nearly $1,000 in total value, generously contributed by friends and partners in our community.

Most importantly, come spend an evening with us. Whether you've been part of Volition since the beginning or are just getting to know us, we'd love to gather around tea, good food, games, and one another to kick off the next five years with a bang.

Fuzhou-Style Mahjong

Mahjong is a Chinese game with roughly 150 years of history and countless regional variations. Today, it's finding new life across generations as a way to connect with Chinese culture and, perhaps most importantly, spend time together. For our anniversary, 144 Tiles will be teaching and facilitating Fuzhou-style mahjong, a style connected to Fujian - the home of our A Year in White collection. Learn more below about what each RSVP option entails.

OPEN PLAY

Already know another style of mahjong? Join us for open play and learn the Fuzhou-style distinctions along the way. 144 Tiles will pair you with other players as soon as a table is available, with access to play throughout the evening.

LESSON + OPEN PLAY

New to mahjong or need a refresher? This introductory lesson will walk you through the basics of Fuzhou-style mahjong before you join open play for the rest of the evening.
